1. London’s brand spanking new Moco Museum is open now at Marble Arch. You know me, I love a nice unstuffy gallery. I’m no art expert. But I know what I like. Take a look at iconic artwork by Warhol, Banksy, Basquiat and Haring. My top tip – do check out Robbie Williams’ new pieces. Yep, you read that right. Robbie of Angels fame is an artist now. Plus, my client Chris Levine is right next door, and you can see some of his most infamous work of the Queen, Kate Moss and Elton John. Makes for a lovely Autumnal weekend afternoon.
2. If you know me, I have a lot of love for Elizabeth Day and her How To Fail podcast. It’s pretty much changed all our lives. In depth chats, proper longform listens and she has the most captivating way of revealing a new side to her guests. In this latest episode she speaks to my mate James Blunt. He doesn’t often give much emotion away. But in this episode, Elizabeth manages to capture a glimpse of the real James. So, enjoy this one!
3. The Lincoln Lawyer, Netflix. I love this show. The tone of it reminds me of The Good Wife (or Fight) which I really miss. I could watch The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey Haller all day long. In fact, I launched into the third season the day it came out. Great twists and turns story wise and I love the characters. Check out the trailer below.
4. You know I love this podcast. Listening to Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver just feels like you’re having a gas with your mates. I was particularly happy to hear they had very similar views to me when it comes to celebrities in the music industry and how they’re looked after in the wake of Liam Payne’s tragic death. I listen to this podcast the minute it drops. I find it refreshing not having to listen to a podcast with guests each week. Lots of my favourite pods have had super odd choices of late and I’ve swerved many episodes. These two just bring it each episode without any fuss.
5. Hampton Open Air Pool. This is my local pool back home (which I’ve been missing a lot). It’s outside sidled alongside Bushy Park near to Hampton Court if you don’t know the area. The minute winter approached the pool steams first thing in the morning, and it becomes a haven to enjoy before work. Do check it out. I get the cold-water thing, but if you want to properly swim and not freeze your tits off then this is a real winner. Plus, I used to work there when I was a teen, so the happy memories are plentiful.
6. A flashback album that deserves some new love. Mighty Hoopla festival announced their line up this week for the summertime. My eyes were immediately drawn to one name. Mutya Buena of Sugababes fame. Some of you might remember, Mutya has a corker of a solo album called Real Girl. Every track is a winner. It will be magic to listen to her solo once more. If you haven’t heard the album you really ought to click below…
7. Cush Jumbo in Macbeth alongside David Tennant. One I’ve not actually seen as yet. I’m booked in the minute I get back from Ibiza and cannot wait. Having gotten to know Cush of late (and listening to her great new podcast Origins) I know this is going to be a real highlight of my November. Sure, it’s going to be intense as expected. But I’m expecting huge things. The reviews have been insane – catch it before it closes at the Harold Pinter Theatre in the West End.
Check out Cush’s Origins below!
8. This isn’t something to do. Well, kinda. Firstly – worth checking out Kylie’s new album Tension II. It’s good. I’m not like “wow wee that’s iconic about it”. Felt like she’s kinda released the big bangers ahead of the release tbh. But it’s a nice collection all the same. The other thing I wanted to highlight was Madonna being spotted in the studio with Stuart Price. The man behind Confessions. I mean, could you imagine a Confessions II. I highly doubt Madonna would repeat a vibe BUT we can only but hope, eh. If you have a couple of hours free today with your hangy, you could do worse than spending time checking out Madge’s Confessions tour. ENJOY.
9. Another TV show I’ve loved for the past few seasons is Slow Horses. The new season is up on Apple now. The final episode of this series is INSANE. Edge of your seat stuff. Another show I’m leaping into is Cate Blanchett in Disclaimer. I’m gripped enough to want to watch more. But I’m not quite sure if it’s REALLY any good. I’m going to stick with it though. Both shows are on Apple. Let me know if you catch these two, gang.
10. AND FINALLY, a first look at something FWESH. Naughty But Niche is a little side hustle myself and my friend Rave have been working on. We were sick with the usual tacky knitted Christmas jumpers being a thing each year. So, we designed some nice slick plain ones with funny slogans on them. Making Christmas jumpers (and beanies) a little more fashionable.
We’re waiting to properly announce them online…but I thought I’d give a ‘first look’ to my subscribers. See below and check out the website HERE for the full range. Christmas jumper day is December 12 – so get planning, Tinsel Tits.
Until next week, gang.
Loved Slow Horses, and agree with you on Disclaimer. I’m not sure it’s really any good, either. Too hammy, too contrived and the cat is stealing every scene Cate Blanchett is in.
The drama on the beach was really well done and seemed to play much better to the director’s strengths. But not sure if that’s enough to make me watch the rest.
